P08 Duplicate Charge

[Consumer Disputes]

Details

American Express reason code P08 is used when a cardholder claims they were charged more than once for the same transaction. This could be due to a technical glitch, a mistakenly repeated authorization, or human error at the point of sale.

Often, the cardholder doesn’t realize that the second charge was for a different item or service, or that one of the charges was later reversed. These disputes can typically be resolved with clear transaction documentation and a review of the merchant’s billing records.
