Reason code

P07 Late Submission

[Processing Errors]

Details

American Express reason code P07 is used when a transaction is submitted after Amex’s required time limit for processing. Even if the cardholder authorized the purchase, the merchant may still receive a chargeback if the transaction was not submitted within the permitted window—typically 7 days from the transaction date.

Late submissions can occur due to batch processing delays, technical issues, or internal handling errors. Because the authorization may no longer be valid by the time the transaction is submitted, Amex may decline it and shift liability to the merchant.
