We wanted to let you know about some important changes coming to the Verifi Rapid Dispute Resolution (RDR) fees that will take effect on January 1st, 2025. Visa is standardising RDR pricing across the board, which means the way fees are currently structured will be changing for all merchants.
Please note, these exact prices are specific to ChargebackStop. If you're with another provider it may be different depending on your specific agreement.
What's Changing?
Current RDR Pricing
Right now, RDR fees are based on your Merchant Category Code (MCC), which places you into different risk categories:
- Low-risk merchants pay $9 per alert.
- Medium-risk merchants pay $19 per alert.
- High-risk merchants pay $29 per alert.
New Uniform Pricing
Starting January 1st, 2025, Visa is removing the tier system to make pricing fairer and simpler. This change also helps prevent any misuse where merchants or processors might alter their category codes to get into a lower-priced tier.
All merchants will now pay a flat rate of $19 per RDR alert, regardless of their risk category.
If you receive more than 250+ RDRs per month you're eligible for volume pricing with us.
How Does This Affect You?
For Merchants Currently Paying $9 per Alert (Low Risk)
Your RDR fees will increase from $9 to $19 per alert. We know this change will increase your bill, so we're letting you know now to help you plan ahead.
For Merchants Currently Paying $19 per Alert (Medium Risk)
Your RDR fees will remain the same at $19 per alert. While your costs won't change, we wanted to inform you about this industry-wide update, especially if you plan to onboard additional merchant accounts or have partners who might be affected.
For Merchants Currently Paying $29 per Alert (High Risk)
Great news! Your RDR fees will decrease from $29 to $19 per alert. We're excited to pass on these savings to you and hope it positively impacts your business.
Why the Change?
Visa is making this move to standardise RDR pricing and make it more straightforward for everyone. A flat rate simplifies things and ensures all merchants are treated equally.
What's Next?
Verifi announced these pricing changes in mid-October, and we've moved quickly to set the new prices and give all our merchants plenty of notice.
Plan Ahead: Review how this change will impact your billing starting January 1st, 2025.
Stay Informed: If you're planning to add more merchant accounts or have partners who might be affected, please let them know about this update.
